2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer: What’s New, What’s Changing, and What Stays the Same
The 2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer keeps the compact size and easygoing character that made it a small SUV favorite, then adds a new Z71 trim, larger screens, Google built-in with Gemini, and a longer list of standard safety features. Chevrolet announced the update in October 2026 and says the 2027 Trailblazer arrives at dealers in late spring 2027. If you are comparing a Trailblazer to other small SUVs right now, this guide covers every change we know about so far.

What Is New on the 2027 Trailblazer
A New Z71 Trim Replaces ACTIV
The biggest headline is the Trailblazer Z71, which takes over the adventure-minded slot the ACTIV trim held in earlier model years. Z71 comes with standard all-wheel drive, off-road-tuned suspension, sport-terrain tires on 17-inch dark gray wheels, and a functional front steel skid plate. Inside, you get a Jet Black and Storm Sky Gray cabin with orange accents (plus Z71 badging, which Chevrolet makes a point of showing off). One honest note: this is a trail-ready crossover, not a rock crawler. Reviewers who have looked at the early specs point out that it does not appear to add a major lift over a regular all-wheel-drive Trailblazer, so think gravel roads, snowy back roads, and campground driveways rather than serious off-roading.
Bigger Screens and Google Built-In With Gemini
Every 2027 Trailblazer gets an 11-inch driver information center and an 11.3-inch center touchscreen. The system runs Google built-in with Gemini, which lets you speak naturally to plan a trip, summarize texts, answer questions, or adjust vehicle settings without touching the screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless phone charging is available. OnStar Basics is also standard, and Chevrolet lists it for eight years.
More Standard Safety and Driver Assistance Features
Chevrolet says the 2027 Trailblazer carries more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features, thanks to an updated electrical and software architecture. New for 2027 are Reverse Automatic Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert, Front Park Assist, and a Rear Seat Belt Indicator. They join familiar standouts such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Safety Alert Seat, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking. (Super Cruise is not offered on the Trailblazer.)
A Redesigned Interior
The gear selector moves to the steering column, which frees up the center console for a redesigned layout with retractable cup holders and more storage. Rear passengers finally get their own air vents. Available features include heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and an AutoSense power liftgate (the kind you open with a foot swipe when your arms are full of groceries).
Two New Colors
Sunrise Orange and Lagoon join the palette on LT and Z71. Cacti Green and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat are retired. The Storm Sky Gray interior color is new to the Chevrolet brand.
What Is Changing From Earlier Model Years
The Trim Lineup Shrinks From Four to Three
Earlier model years offered LS, LT, ACTIV, and RS trims. The 2027 lineup is LT, RS, and Z71. The LS is gone (LT is now the starting trim), and Z71 replaces ACTIV.
The 1.3L Turbo Becomes the Only Engine
The 2026 Trailblazer started with a 1.2L turbo three-cylinder rated at 137 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque, with the 1.3L turbo (155 horsepower, 174 lb.-ft.) as an upgrade on other trims. For 2027, Chevrolet is retiring the 1.2L and making the 1.3L turbo standard across the lineup. Every 2027 Trailblazer gets the stronger engine.
Standard Tech and Safety Move Up
Larger screens, Google built-in with Gemini, and the expanded safety list now come standard across the lineup, instead of being spread across trims and options.
Pricing Has Not Been Announced
Chevrolet has not published 2027 Trailblazer pricing, and says it will share it closer to the on-sale date in late spring 2027. We will update this page when the numbers arrive.
What Stays the Same
Chevrolet describes the 2027 Trailblazer as an update rather than a complete redesign, and plenty carries over. It is still a small, five-seat SUV with two rows and no third row (rear legroom is a generous 39 inches). Cargo space still tops out at roughly 54 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, and the fold-flat front passenger seat (standard) still stretches cargo length to 8.5 feet. Towing capacity stays at up to 1,000 pounds. All-wheel drive remains available. Three drive modes (Normal, Sport, and Snow) remain standard. The RS keeps its sporty look with 19-inch Carbon Flash Metallic wheels, red interior accents, and an available two-tone roof and panoramic sunroof.
2027 Trailblazer Trims: LT vs. RS vs. Z71
Trailblazer LT
The starting trim comes with the standard 1.3L turbo engine, both new screens, Google built-in with Gemini, active noise cancellation, keyless open and remote start, and the full safety package. Choose it if you want the fundamentals without extras.
Trailblazer RS
The RS is the sport-minded pick, with a unique grille, black-painted roof rails, 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, and a heated, wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel. Choose it if style matters as much as the spec sheet.
Trailblazer Z71
The Z71 is the adventure trim, with standard all-wheel drive, a skid plate, sport-terrain tires, and orange accents. Choose it if your weekends involve gravel, snow, or a campsite, and you want all-wheel drive without ordering it separately.
2027 Trailblazer vs. 2027 Trax
Chevrolet updated the Trax alongside the Trailblazer, and the two now share their larger screens, Google built-in, and expanded safety list. The main divider is drivetrain and trim. The Trax stays front-wheel drive with its Base, RS, and Activ trims, while the Trailblazer offers all-wheel drive and adds the Z71. If winter driving or light trail use is on your list, the Trailblazer is the one to look at.
Should You Buy a 2026 Trailblazer Now or Wait for the 2027?
Buy now if you need a vehicle this fall and want to take advantage of current Trailblazer offers (Chevrolet lists offers on the 2026 model on its website; ask us what applies today). Wait if the larger screens, Google Gemini, standard 1.3L turbo, or the Z71 trim are the features you have been waiting for, since none of them are on the 2026. Either way, we are happy to run the numbers with you, and no pressure either direction. We make it EASY!
