In this episode of Kunes Car Convos, Tony Wheatley, Regional Manager at Kunes Auto Group of Sauk Valley, had the pleasure of interviewing Kris Noble, Executive Director of the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce. As they cruised the streets in the sleek 2022 Jeep Wagoneer, the pair shed light on the dynamic transformation of Sauk Valley and its flourishing business scene.
As Tony and Kris explored Sterling, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer showcased its elegance. Tailored for families, this SUV seats up to eight and boasts unmatched space. Equipped with advanced safety features and the state-of-the-art UConnect5 system on a 10.1-inch display, it promises both safety and entertainment. With numerous charging options, the Jeep ensures you're always connected. Experience Sterling's charm in the Wagoneer through our latest Kunes Car Convo.
Downtown Sterling, overseen by Sterling Main Street, is buzzing with economic development. Organizations such as "Sterling Today" play a crucial role in promoting and sustaining this growth. One innovative initiative, the Incubator Project, offers budding entrepreneurs an affordable avenue to test the waters of their business ventures. Through this program, business newcomers can lease retail spaces at reduced rates, and once they spread their wings into their own storefronts, more new businesses are welcomed into the incubator.
Kris shared an essential piece of advice for emerging entrepreneurs: "Being great at creating a product doesn’t mean you've mastered the business aspect. Thankfully, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Sauk Valley Community College offers ample support. If you're passionate about selling a product or offering a service, rest assured, this community has your back."
Sterling is embracing a growth-oriented mindset, aspiring to be a haven for businesses. A visiting marketing company perfectly encapsulated the appeal of Sterling, calling out its unique trifecta of quality education, top-tier healthcare, and pristine green spaces.
Sauk Valley's rich industrial past, especially during the '50s and '60s when Sterling was the global hub for hardware production, has left its mark on the riverfront. Today, the city has taken ownership of these spaces, transforming and repurposing them for the community.
Excitingly, Kris notes that there's been more activity in the region over the past two years than in the previous eight combined! With quarterly community gatherings and collaborative initiatives like the new dog park (thanks to the Millennial group and park district collaboration), Sterling exemplifies a small-town charm where culture and community thrive.
