More about Mark and his accident and impact on the community:

On Sunday, September 18th, Mark was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He was flown to Rockford, IL and then taken to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It was discovered he had vertebrae putting pressure on the spinal cord in his neck. He was brought right to surgery to have that pressure relieved.

During surgery, it was discovered that there was some spinal cord damage, but they won't know the extent until later when he can get up and move around. He also has many facial fractures, and his left eye will need surgery in the future.

Mark has a giant heart of gold. We hope all your thoughts and prayers let him know just how much everyone really loves and appreciates him. As all of you know, he never wants or asks for any special attention, even though he gives so much of his spare time, without hesitation, to the City of Morrison and its residents.

Mark is going to be in the hospital, or a rehabilitation facility, for many weeks to come - quite possibly months. We know he will be very overwhelmed when he can sit up and see how much we all love him.
